@tbd: I have a (limited) previous experience with a 3D software called FS Design Studio that was (and still is) used to create models for MS Flight Simulator, however I find AC3D much easier and faster to use. All the models have been created from scratch in one day each (the untextured model, I mean) and usually takes another day each for the textures. BTW I love how easy is to use the Texture Coordinate Editor. Texture alignment with the other software was much more difficult.
@Andy: here follow the wireframe view of the P-40E, which counts:
Total objects: 24 surfaces: 1474 vertices: 1585
and the PBY which counts:
Total objects: 23 surfaces: 2360 vertices: 2521
I'm also adding two pics of my B-29, the more complex of the models I made so far (Total objects: 57 surfaces: 3188 vertices: 3592) and two of the A6M, the first and less complex model I created with AC3D (Total objects: 21 surfaces: 648 vertices: 791 but still looking good enough in my opinion). I have changed the way I create the tail fin after the first two models, the later technique makes them much more realistic still keeping a low poly count...
