Scaling objects and object group
I made the landing gear and scaled it to the aircraft. Now I have managed to get the cockpit done but it is around 4 times the correct size when I bring it into Xplane. for whatever reason, i can't seem to get it to scale down to the right size.
Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Re: Scaling objects and object group
X-Plane objects use metric units. 1 unit in AC3D = 1 meter.

Re: Scaling objects and object group
ok, but now that I have the cockpit complete, how can I make it 1/4 of the scale it was made in so as to fit it inside the fuselage? I can't seem to find any means of doing this from Planemaker or AC3D.....

Re: Scaling objects and object group
in AC3D, select all, scale to 25% and export it again

Re: Scaling objects and object group
That is, make sure to scale to 25% in ALL AXES.... you can scale independently on one, two, or all three axes.

Re: Scaling objects and object group
I usually import the nose section of the X-Plane model as a reference.
You can simply hide the reference parts before exporting your cockpit. Also make sure to put transparent parts to the bottom in the object hierarchy before export. (e.g. cockpit windows go last if you want to see the interior from outside) This has to do with drawing order in the sim. peter |

Re: Scaling objects and object group
AHA, partial success. My problem was housekeeping. an earlier attempt had the huge cockpit blocking views of the properly scaled version. I have the properly scaled version in the aircraft, it's not centered and is low. In the object adjust controls, i am tweaking the position, but it's not moving.
