Snap objects by vertices
Hello All,
This is my first post. I found this software through a friend who has designed an aircraft for Great Planes RealFlight G3.5. I'm hooked... I've been working with AC3D for a day now and must say it has an incredibly intuitive interface in comparison to other CAD programs I work with at present. I am having trouble snapping objects by vertices on a repeatable basis. I have optimized verticies, surfaces and reduced. So I believe the object - if it is indeed an object is clean as it were... I have been able to (in the same drawing) do this operation with other objects after selecting the various verticies with ease. Not the case with these particular objects... I am trying to attach the nose cone of the float to the temporary center bulkhead of the float at the bow end. I will attach the file in question for critique. If someone would be so kind as to point out what is most assuredly an obvious error on my part - I would be grateful. Thank You GLM Last edited by glm; 8th July 2007 at 02:29 PM. Reason: typo |

Re: Snap objects by vertices
Before trying the object snap, ensure you only have 2 vertices selected. You should see a "Vertices selected" indicator above the top-left view. You can use shift+right-click to deselect a vertex if too many are selected.
If you have 2 vertices *very* close together, it's easy to select both of them without meaning to. Oh, and welcome to the forums! |

Re: Snap objects by vertices
Hi Dennis, That's what it was. Two vertices close together. The tips on the indicator and shift right click will come in handy. I think I was having trouble zooming in close to examine things - seems I got to a point were the zoom stopped responding, after centering everything on the origin again, or at least that particular object - I could get much closer. Still learning the controls... Thanks for your response! Cheers! Gary

Quote:
select your object (works also with surfaces or vertices) and press ctrl+F ; your object will then have the "focus" and you will be able to zoom more closer in it and to examin it more easily.

Lucky!
That was downright useful - so much better than what I was doing! Cheers! glm |

Re: Snap objects by vertices
Thanks Lucky - I have been using AC3D for years and I didn't know that, guess I need to break out the old manual eh.
