Hi everyone,
Sorry for the noobish question. [Some background:] Need to create what looks like an extruded heart shape. Plan on exporting to collada/dae to be used in opensim/osgrid. Making as a tombstone for a deceased RL friend. I started with a cylinder added extra vertices and shaped it into a heart. Initial export and viewing in osgrid looks good. However when I attempt to texture it, I noted only the out edge of the heart is textured. The two faces <originally the top / bottom of the cylinder> remain greyed out. I've attempted to make a ordered surface, etc. But cannot seem to get the texture to flow over these two surfaces. <again top and bottom of cylinder> I've added some screenshots to further explain. Any recommendations? Thank you. --mbogucki |

Select only the front and back surfaces, open Tools->Texture-coordinate-editor and press Remap front or back to map the texture to those surfaces.

Hi Andy,
Thank you, so much, for getting back to me. I came up with a solution/work-around by using a block and manually moving the vertices around to limit the distortion on the front and back faces. Turned out pretty good; however your solution is certainly easier and faster. Again much appreciated. <and noted for future reference.> As mentioned in the OP, this was meant as a virtual-headstone/marker for a friend, whose friend passed away. Here's the outcome in case anyone's interested. <see attachment> Cheers. --Mike |
