from bitmap to vertex colors
Hello, I would like to know if and how it is possible to realize one thing with AC3D. In Lightwave there's a function called "textured point", it lets the user to paint the points with the colors of a texture. Here's a link to a movie explaining how to do that in LW (I'm interested only in the first part, later in the video it shows a sort of extrusion)
Can someone tell me how to achieve the same results shown in the video with AC3D? Many thanks Marco |

Re: from bitmap to vertex colors
Vertex colors are not currently supported in AC3D.
Depending on what you're trying to accomplish, there may be ways to emulate techniques shown in the LW video in AC3D. It all depends on the end result you are trying to achieve. |

Re: from bitmap to vertex colors
I need to create models for real-time visualization, so I can't use too many textures, and I need to fake them. So far I've found that only expensive packages like LW and Max can do that.

Re: from bitmap to vertex colors
A small texture (e.g. 32x32 pixels) mapped onto a rectangle will probably be more efficient to render and store in memory - compared with a mesh with lots of vertices and vertex colors.
