Re: BBB Trasport Ship
I didnt like how the textures were coming along so I decided to remake it. I took the original, did an -subdivide until I got the box shape of it. From there I selected each part by using the surface select and remade each part individually. Then I put them together a for this look.

Re: BBB Trasport Ship
Next I made a cargo container. I used the tutorial on making custom textures. Yes the texture on the ship should look familiar to all of you. I assure you though that using the same basic textures in the tutorial, I made my own.
I modified the can I used from the can making tutorial and applied a custom texture to that as well. That became the 4 fuel tanks ontop with a nuclear symbol on them. Because everyone knows space fuel is nuclear The cockpit was textured with a standard pic I found of broken building windows. I really didn't like this though Last edited by Dzemo; 30th October 2009 at 06:05 PM. |

Now I made a new cockpit and found a much nicer pic to texture it with. Its a dome window. I just noticed comparing the pictures I am making of it that the cargo holders became much larger at some point
I also made a custom texture for the placard at the front of the cargo box. |

Arm for cargo holder.
I should comment too, that along the way of modeling this ship and one of my others, I have been searching the tutorials and trying out the various plugins. One of the most helpful ones was the UV Mapper. |

The cargo box a bit lower held by a chain.
Here I have shamelessly downloaded someone else's model and taken the chain from it. I dont know how to make chains yet. You can bet I will replace it though, when I learn how. |

Re: BBB Trasport Ship
A gun turret was added and some piping around the nose.
The gun is someone else's work again. The piping was a good lesson for me on extrude to path. I tried several different times to do what I wanted. After all was said and done, I felt it looked good like this. Though I will probably change it after more practice getting the piping to follow the contours of the ship. |

Re: BBB Trasport Ship
I felt very guilty about using somebody's work. So I set out looking for pictures of a gun turret from a WWII bomber. I found a completely rebuilt aircraft that had been chromed. I tried making my own chrome textures but was unable to do so from scratch. So I settled on a picture of some water, punched a sphere into it in my photo editor and applied it to the new turret.
I didnt like the holes in the turret so I duplicated, rotated and, added some random texture to it. Then I made some very simple gun barrels by revolving a pattern. Its still not what I wanted, but it will do. I might at that this thing is sucking up the RAM in my computer at a heavy rate now. |

Re: BBB Trasport Ship
I added some missiles to it now. The specs for the ship are two lasers and 8 missiles. http://pardus.maxisoft.org/ship9.html
I am very happy with it so far. Of course there will be changes to it as I come up with more Ideas. This is an earlier work I did of the BBB if you would like to see. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...zin/BBB002.jpg |

Re: BBB Trasport Ship
And now the complete model.
I would like to mention that the legs on TBD's Arachnoid http://www.inivis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5551 is what inspired me for this. |
