Re: Avenger Class Starship
Well, due to limited time and lack of creativity, I decided to start work on getting some semblance of internal components, so I did some work with getting some basic bussard collectors and warp coils.
Nothing much to speak of, it's really basic and low quality. So is this deflector array:

Anyways, here's a pretty view with some weird things going on in it...

Re: Avenger Class Starship
Looking great! Are you building full internals on all of these?

Re: Avenger Class Starship
Well, after seeing some of the stuff on Second Life, I've definitely considered it. Unfortunately, I think I'd have to make thousands of different files for it, because my computer isn't capable of handling anything that complex. I'm plugging along here on a Celeron processor in an eMachines computer that's probably laced with every possible defect known to modern technology. You should see how slowly my computer moves with that model up. It takes about a half a minute for AC3D to start up, and then another half minute to load the model...at least.

Re: Avenger Class Starship
Wasn't sure... I've seen the bridge you posted before, and deck pieces, and now engine internals... that's a lot of stuff right there!
Actually, that's what most movie studios do, too. |

Re: Avenger Class Starship
Well, here's some minor detailing.
The first image is mainly just a flight of fancy, though I may make the Avenger capable of landing: Note that I forgot to illuminate the lower sensor array below the deflector dish. And of course here's a better view of the ASRVs and phaser strips:

Re: Avenger Class Starship
Well, as I keep saying, my computer is a piece of crap, so this is all I've done in the past week. The things at the very front are the transporter's Annular Confinement Beam Emitters, the larger details are the Regenerative [Polyphasic?] Deflector Shield Grids, and of course the two hole looking bits are for the Quantum Torpedoes. I also resized the windows to something more practical. It seems to make it look larger. I think I'll put sensors in that band in the middle of the delta section:
And for kicks and giggles, I rendered these images, just because they look cool. Who says starships need to be self-illuminating? http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...s_Rev00004.png http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...s_Rev00007.png

Re: Avenger Class Starship
Yeah, I started modeling about three, four years ago, either my freshman or sophomore year in high school, I think it was late in my freshman year. Either way, I started just about the same way you did. Unfortunately I get myself involved in way too many things so I don't have much time for this, so it took me until now to produce anything of quality. It's a good hobby to get into, especially for you, since I saw you want to get into video games. I'm planning on going into aerospace engineering in college, so what I'm modeling is almost connected to that (I use the word "almost" fairly loosely in this case, haha)
