I have started work on my first children's story book which I am writing and illustrating myself - lifelong dream and all that stuff. I thought I might run a couple of the designs past you AC3D users for feedback. As with everything I build it is all put together in AC3D. These are just test images - not the finished pieces. I am aiming for a cartoon-style but with plenty of 3d content.

Very nice. Will the font you used for the word "RANGER" give early readers trouble since the A doesn't have a horizontal line?
Never mind, my 5 year old recognized all the letters, but failed to sound out the word. Back to Very Nice. ![]() Last edited by jentron; 13th May 2015 at 12:29 AM. |

Excellent - I'd like to know more. Is the green creature a villain in the story?

An excellent observation Jentron. This is one of the first tests. I am very happy with the overall design but I wasn't happy about the RANGER 1 logo, hence I changed it to the following. Hopefully this makes the name easier to read, but an excellent comment.
The little green guy is indeed the master bad guy. The challenge is to design and build a small army of bad guy ships - all similar but with slightly different looks. I want to make them look like they have had to steal parts from each other ships to keep them going. I'll post more as I get them completed. |

I think you have really got the carton look nailed. Nice concept.

I've created a ship's robot as a companion / sidekick for the books hero. The robot is called BERT - short for ROBERT, which is ROBotic Engineer and Repair Technician.

Thanks Andy - if only it was that easy. I work full time and only get a couple of hours here and there to work on this project. It's usually at 11 and 12 at night that I grab a few precious minutes per week. There are a few models left to build and quite a bit of Photoshop painting to be done, so it will be a few more months before I am finished and in a position to go looking for publishers.
By the way, none of this would be possible without this fantastic piece of software. Keep up the good work - for me personally it was a great day that I found AC3D. |
