Some material properties that POVray uses don't exist in ac3d. Reflection for example. So they can't be passed to POVray as render button is being used. I guess it is possible to add some tcl code to organize a control something like slider for adjusting shininess or transparency but I don't know how to do that.

In the bottom right corner of the AC3D program are colored numbers 1 2 3 4 5 etc.....
These are the materials you can apply to objects. You can change the material property by right clicking on the number ............ edit material property |

You can also embed some additional material data in the object properties dialog if you checkbox "Use object data for POV files" on the "Files" tab of the main settings dialog.
Object properties can be edited by clicking Tools > Object Properties. |

Right click on the colored number in the bottom left of the screen. You can edit the material property. Or Append a new material with the properties you want and then apply that material to your mesh. |

Every surface must have a material. A texture is per object and is optional.
To find out what material a surface has, click it in surface mode. It will show in the status bar at the bottom. |
