I cannot either while "select trough" is inactive. Works only if it's active.

Crashing after delete:
Open file
Deselect all
Select a single object
Change to surface mode
(Open and close texture Editor) not always necessary for crash
Change to object mode
Select the same object
Delete object -> Crash

Best wishes
Uli

Thanks Guys. Found and fixed the delete bug.

The fix will be released shortly.

AC3D 7.2 Important Update

We have just released AC3D 7.2.17. If you have already installed 7.2.14 then you need to remove this and install 7.2.17. (You can find out which version of AC3D you have from the menu Help->About-AC3D.)

7.2.17 fixes a bug which could cause AC3D to crash when objects were deleted. It also fixes a problem with selections (when ‘Select-Through’ was unticked).

A couple of other improvements have been made too:

Vertex->Snap-Together – now moves all selected vertices to the average position.
Vertex->Snap-to-First-Vertex – a new function which snaps vertices to the position of the first vertex that was selected.

AC3D 7.2.17 is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X (Intel) – DOWNLOAD NOW

FYI, these last two version updates have been by "Unknown Publisher" and its making Windows 8 have conniptions.

The "snap vertex to this other vertex over here" bit is also very much appreciated.

Now if we could just get the ability to slide a vertex along a line, we'd really be cooking with gas (as in, when you insert a vertex along the side of a slanted poly, it would be nice to be able to move that vertex up and down the line without actually going off the original line, no pulling it up/down/forwards/back).

Thank you for this excellent bug fix speed!
Is it really necessary to deinstall / install the entire package or may I replace the related files?
Could it be possible to publish a file list in further cases?
Uli

The new one creates an entirely new directory. Its rather a bad habit of AC3D, IMO, as it can create an entire list of folders.

MAC ONLY

The Mac AC3D 7.2.17 distribution was missing a file which would cause the Tools->Create-2D/3D-text dialog to not show.

If you are using the Mac version of AC3D, we recommend you download AC3D 7.2.17a. This includes the missing file.

If you don't want to re-download the Mac version of AC3D again and already have 7.2.17, download the attached file (ac3dttfont.tcl) and place it in the tcl folder, which is within the ac3dmac folder. This will restore the functionality of the 2D/3D text creation.

I really appreciate the new Vertex->Snap-to-First-Vertex since that's what I've wanted to do in most cases. The averaging may be great for joining two halves of an object but when you want to hang something unto a main object you certainly don't want to skew that main object.

However, I miss a key command. Cntrl T works as before for average position snaps while there's no key command for the snap-to-first-vertex.

You can put something like this in a .tcl file in the scripts folder:
Code:
acbind . <Control-w> "ac3d select_surfaces_connected"
Choose a control key combination and for that function use "ac3d snaptofirst" as the command.
