Hi,
i have a special problem i couldnt solv yet. I am creating models for the new AF5 SIM and tue to the physics and graphics is separated, i have to calculate the 3d AXIS for the graphics movable parts. To get the needed information within AC3D is very easy, just select the line and get the size. Ok, to get the best results the line should be 1 (m) long (unit circle) and now the problem occurs. Tue to the movable parts are shorter i have to place the 2 point line exact through 2 Axis vertexes of this axis. I tried a lot of things but i never hit the necessary vertexes exactly. Any ideas to get this done? Andi |

Hi,
sorry i may described it wrong 2 point line = single line 2 axis vertexes = center of a half circle, left and right of e.g. aileron In the picture you can see the red line (1m) and the aileron, now the red line has to be placed exact through both half circle center vertexes (left/right). Due to i dont know the angle/s its difficult for me to move the red line exact to the necessary place. |

Ok,
if your aileron isn't properly aligned to any axis (I suppose this is the case) : Hoping you know the distance you want between your axis vertices and the end line vertices (left and right ones). Duplicate and extrude one of the right half circle triangle by normal by that distance ; you now have a vertice (the one from the extruded triangle that is aligned to your right axis vertice) at the exact location where your right end line vertice should be, so you just have to move it there (use the "move to" function), and delete the extruded object. Same applies for the left side. HTH.

Hi,
thanks for your help. :-) Didnt see that "Extrude by normal" this was all i needed. If i use this and extrude 1m to left or right, i have the line i need, because for calculating the 1m line doesnt have to be exact on the axis as long as it is parallel. |
