extending object
I am a newbie to this software and am in an evaluation phase before I buy.
Not sure how many people out there are using this software as an artistic aid. Seems that it would be great to visualise projects in an interactive way before construction. Problem I am having is that I am trying to join objects. Seems that this is possible with the 'snap objects by verticies' but what if I want to extend the object, a surface of it until it intercepts another object. I would attach the file to this posting if I knew how to and supply the file I am working on at the moment and it is obvious where I am stuck. Temporarily frustrated, Alexjavascript:emoticon(':?') In vertex mode, select the vertices of the two surfaces you want to bring together and resize the box to zero width.
If that doesn't help - send me the file and I'll have a look. Andy |

Still having problems.
To best describe it, I am missing your concept of creating objects to work together. Seems that the nearsnap is also only operating occasionaly. what are the rules for the nearsnap to work? Your description above did not help me since the word resize exists nowhere in your MMI (!) I have read your help file and it is not helping me very much. Seems to gloss over the basics very quickly. I am new to 3D modelling and so maybe do nto have some of the basic insticts that your normal user has. Sorry to be so negative, I realy do think that this application is something that I can use (when I get over some of the basic rules) but at the moment I am about to give up and head back to my sketchpad (no software can replace that). I would appreciate any assistance at this point. |

Which help file do you mean - have you read the manual or watched the tutorials (which show resizing)?
see www.ac3d.org/manual and www.ac3d.org/ac3d/tutorials resizing is covered in the movie at: http://ac3d.org/ac3d/tutorials/Getti...esizemove.html Nearsnap works in three dimensions and will only snap to a point if it is near. It is used when drawing lines/polys/polylines only. Andy |
