Default File Reduction

Hi I'm building this locomotive for "Rule the Rail!"

Apparently, the x-file for the model is too big (7.29MB) and is causing the sim to crash.

I've been removing vertices and objects not needed in the model to try to reduce the file. Is there another method that could also help?

Nice model!

I wonder if you could convert it to .x binary? That might help. There was a program called DXOpsin the old Microsoft SDK which converted to/from text/binary I think.

Otherwise, see if you can remove detail and let the textures do the work, that might reduce the number of vertices and surfaces. If you have large flat areas, you can combine the surfaces.

I'd be interested to see a pic of that in the simulator.
