Default Aligning vertices instead of objects?

Is there any way to adapt this "align" tool to work with vertices, instead of objects?

There are times where I need to make sure that vertices are perfectly vertically aligned, and currently the only way to do that is to manually copy/paste the X and Z values so they're identical for each vertex.

Simply resize the bounding box to zero in the desired axis and that will align the vertices.

Oh my, that is perfect, thanks!
(I see you suggested the same solution in another thread, now I feel silly.)
