Flynn's light cycle.
Decided to take a brake from the Invidia. Need to get some distance to it. Instead I will try to make Flynn's light cycle. The one I'm trying for are the one in Tron Legacy. The new design of that bike are the work of Daniel Simon, known from Cosmic Motors. I dont have any nurbs or Edge tools or other flashy options to play with in Ac3d, so lets see how it turns out shall we I have started with the easy parts, the tires and rims and the exhaust.

More or less finished with the wheels. Did some artistic changes to the front to make it more "Legacy" like. Think I'll add some tire treads to the front tire as well. Now its time for the complicated stuff.

Re: Flynn's light cycle.
Been doing some work on the back of the bike. Its difficult to get the shapes I want. I have to trick the subdivide into curving were it should and leave the corners that need to be square away. You can see on the wires the unsubd and subd faces. I use a level of two, but I may get away with one, on some of the parts. Need to do some experimenting on that.

Re: Flynn's light cycle.
Hehe, thanks donamy. Maybe not a masterpiece, but hopefully a cool ride . Done with the back of the light cycle. I kept the 2 levels of subdivisions. It didnt look good enough with only one level. Turned out better than I feared it would be actually. The reference around the web are a bit different on how it looks like, so I use what looks cool.

Re: Flynn's light cycle.
Made and played around a bit with some tire tread textures. I ended up with this. I kinda liked it.

Re: Flynn's light cycle.
Made a engine to the bike. I tried to keep it low poly, cos the bike will be poly intensive enough on its own.

Awesome stuff Thor, I would love to see some of your development processes. I just can't get my head around how you do this. Are any tutorials in the future?
Keep up the incredible work Art |

Re: Flynn's light cycle.
A lot of try and error You just has to check different ways of getting that special shape you want. The engine started as a cylinder, and then its just a lot of loop divide and extrude and pulling in vertexes. The reference for the engine was a bit small, so I had a hard time seeing the details. I'm on the body now. Added wires and the engine reference I used. And one of the pictures I use as reference for the bike.

Re: Flynn's light cycle.
The arrows are the way I extruded the vertexes. Have gotten the "cockpit" almost done. It was a lot of vertex moving and surface extruding here. But I think it turned out OK.
