Default Windows 7 Suitability

Just install Win7 and tried AC3D - no go.

What plans are in place to make software compatable?

Have you done a Windows update?

Windows 7 caused problems on one machine here. After we installed it there was no driver for the network card. (AND it had downloaded updates whilst installing - i.e. accessed the network!). We had to fit a different network adapter, and do an update - which automatically downloaded the correct drivers .

Before running an update the current AC3D 6.5 release of AC3D didn't work but after updating, it works fine.

Let me know how you get on.

Not sure about 64bit but there should be some compatability settings you can alter. Also check your graphics card drivers.

Same problem here. I have loaded the visual c++ runtimes and tried compatibility modes and no joy. I hope there is a possibility that this will be resolved.

Cool Re: Windows 7 Suitability (solved for 64, for me)

Windows 7 (x64) here since 3 days and was extremely irritated that ac3d can not do quick win7 fix.

How I solved it without further workarounds:

(i also did not get even the dos window no matter the comp. modes)

SHORT:
Set UAC off, reboot, launch ac3d once, quit ac3d when started up, re-set UAC on again and reboot. Ac3d will work properly from that further on.

To alter UAC mode:
type "msconfig" into windowsbuttons searchline,
in Sysconfigwindow then click Tab "Tools" and activate UAC-Settings then "Startbutton"

Hope this help you all also like it did for me.

Talking Re: Windows 7 Suitability

That worked perfectly. Thanks :-) They should put this solution up as a sticky.
