BSP
When I got AC3D it said that I would be able to save, or export, as a .bsp file. But when go to 'Export' I tried all of the options and none of them export as .bsp.
Are all the AC3D websites lying to me. Or am I just missing something? |

It's in the importer list- check menu Help->about-importers. If you use File->import, it should be in the list of file types.
Since implementing BSP importing, we had little/no feedback about it - so it's not been developed any further. There's no BSP exporter for AC3D. Andy |

It is mentioned that AC3D supports BSP at:
http://www.bykeyword.com/downloads/s...nload-553.html and http://rsn.gamedev.net/default.asp If I can't save in .bsp does anyone know of a way to convert one of the supported file types into .bsp. I am making a computer game and it is much easier to make collisions work properly with a .bsp map, it is more difficult in any other format. |

Lookup worldcraft.
Most people model using a generic modeller like AC3D or 3DS and then convert the files using a quake tool. 3DS is widely suppoerted, AC3D exports this. Andy |

Hey, I am making a map of my classroom for my final in my networking class... we're gonna have a lan party (afterwe network them) and they gave me the challenge of making the school, and or a rats version of the classroom. So do I export the model to quake md2 and then use something like world forge to open it up and save it as a BSP? Thanx in advance!
PS: is there a world forge or something similar to linux? |

you can export the file as quake map .map file using ac3d and
then you can open this map file using gtkradiant which is available both for linux and windows. This tool helps you create quake maps if you have a .map file and gtkradient you can get the bsp file for the same. |

Hey
Hi, I have some insight.
I'm a counter-strike source mapper and the easiest way to get around converting/exporting all that crap just simply use the Hammer editor which is for making CS & CS:S maps. It comes with steam. The Hammer editor is really close to AC3D, I has more complexities about it, but in general the same layout. No render option lol but it is the official map editor/maker. It has been a while since I have mapped due to steam sucking ass and me not being able to log on anymore but anyways if you need help email me or reply here.

The problem I have is I have linux. So I need to use gtkradient. I should try wine, but seeing how this is a complex 3d modeling program I have my doubts. I do have one windows craptop but as the name implies its crap. It shutdown after just a few minutes of use, I'll delve into the problem with it maybe later on tonight (tonight of this post), and I'll get back on to you 'bout it. Other then that do you have any knowledge in gtkradient?
