Well, this project is going to take a while. The boolean operations are very slow. Here's what I've gotten so far:

that looks pretty good. I was wondering can you help me with something. I need some help in making my cockpits for my ship look real. for some reason when I design them they look flat and unrealistic. say like when I try to make the basic metal plating for my cockpits and then adding the glass. I was just wondering if you could show me or maybe help me make my cockpits look more real.
agian looks pretty good. |

Cockpits for any flying object are tough, I've been doing a number for Targetware and have come up with a reasonable approach which uses lots of shared items, such as seats, controls, instruments and other devices. Each suitable for the manufacturer or country of origin. While the parts I've made will not suit space, the principals are the same.
Start out with a range of seats, based on your standard sitting figure. Then consuls, stairs, lifts and rails, lighting units, and any other part that may be shared with any space model. Once you have some building blocks you can then insert then into the cockpit shell. Make use of the plugins for AC3D, to build up additional details on the panels, and then texture the lot. It will take a while to do this, but once you have a parts bin you'll be able to build any cockpit much more easily.

Would making a line and extruding/scaling it work for making a cockpit?
